Go back to your custom page in the edit mode and open a new widget.
Select the URL address of an image that you want to embed, e.g. this cute kitten: www.online-image-editor.com//styles/2014/images/example_image.png
To embed it, we first need to wrap it inside our "shell", which is <img src="">. The URL address must be placed between the quote signs, which gives us <img src="http://www.online-image-editor.com//styles/2014/images/example_image.png">. So far, so good. Insert it and save this widget!
Next, we want the image to appear in a smaller size, so we specify the width and height like this: width="300" height="200". These commands must be placed after the URL address. The entire code string will look like this: <img src="http://www.online-image-editor.com//styles/2014/images/example_image.png" width="300" height="200">. Remember the space between " and w + to include the final >, otherwise the code won't work. Now, open a new widget and insert the code for the reduced object, save it, then swap the two widgets vertically so that the biggest object is on top.
The main reasons for reducing objects is that often, the original version is so big that it won't fit inside the widget. Also, even if it does fit on your PC screen, your members using cell phones or other devices will start to complain that they don't see all of it.
Note: The code string necessary for reducing a simple image is already quite long, so better get used to seemingly endless lines of coding for more advanced programming. But you don't need to memorise it all; just understand the basics, what the different parts do to your object and where to make the changes you want implemented.
Homework until the next time: Open a new widget and familiarise yourself with all the options that ProBoards has prepared for you there in addition to the HTML Box that we have been working with so far. This should be self-explanatory, so I won't spend further time on it unless you have any questions. But it looks good on your Home Page in case you want to develop one. Leave one such widget on your page so that I can see that you have understood the concept.
